Anxiety

Anxiety
You may have developed anxiety or panic quite suddenly, without really knowing how it all started. Sometimes you realize that it’s a response to a recent unpleasant event. On the flip side, you may have been struggling with anxiety for years. Often in this case, the start of your symptoms can be linked to a specific stressful experience in your life. A traumatic childhood or being raised in a chaotic environment can surely result in anxiety symptoms.
Similarly, there are many different ways that individuals experience anxiety and the symptoms that go along with it. Some people suffer with anxiety primarily in their minds. Worry and stressful thoughts are their constant companions, as they consistently obsess over various fears and uncertainties. For others, anxiety manifests as physical symptoms, such as tightness of the chest, headaches or stomach pains. Regardless of the form in which anxiety presents itself, it is a highly uncomfortable experience and results in much suffering.
Generally speaking, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is considered to be the gold standard of treatment for Anxiety Disorders. Utilizing this method of intervention has proven to be extremely helpful to my clients in reducing and even ridding them of their anxiety symptoms. In addition, I incorporate another evidenced based treatment for anxiety known as Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT). ACT places an emphasis on preventing anxiety from interfering in people’s lives. It encourages clients to live by their values and assists them in reaching their goals. Combining these two methods, has resulted in remarkable outcomes for my clients.
At times, when anxiety is rooted in an obvious trauma, it requires an alternative treatment approach, aimed specifically at trauma resolution. For this purpose, I utilize a highly acclaimed treatment known as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Using this method, we take a deeper look at the circumstances which are the root cause of your suffering. We explore the meaning behind the experience and how it shaped your beliefs about yourself, and the world around you. As you gently begin to reshape your perspective regarding the unfortunate event, it reduces the negative impact it has had on your life.

Using my extensive experience and specialized training in anxiety treatment, I will collaborate with you as we take back control of your life. Together, we will decide on the best course of action while considering your individual comfort level within a particular method of treatment. We will target your specific symptoms, selecting the most appropriate skills and techniques to reduce your suffering. My clients have been successful at overcoming their anxieties and improving the quality of their lives. You too can acquire serenity, productivity, and peace of mind.
